Key Theme: Concept of Context
Context for use – Part one: The lecture pod this weeks focus was on the concept of context. There are numerous techniques to gather information by creating idea and making design decisions. As designers we can undertake precedent research. This mean the study of existing products and as well as observe people using the product and asking questions based on our observations and test prototypes. We usually carry this out when we undertake the 8 stage of interaction design process.
Verplank, B. (2019). Interaction Design. Retrieved from http://hci.sapp.org/lectures/verplank/interaction/
When we start creating an interaction design or any design, the project ideas start off with pen and paper. It helps us designers to understand, design and frame the problem. As well as come up with a visual solution. Visualisation helps us identify potential direction, missing information and possible next steps through creating diagram models and flows. Early sketches help us understand the goals we are trying to achieve.
Context of Use – Part Two:when design an interaction design we need to know more about
- what people are trying to do
- how they may try to do it
- what gets in the way or helps
- where they might be doing it
Designers need to ask questions that help when creating a interacting design and by understanding the their need and goals than we design successful interactions.
